About the Class

Welcome to the wonderful world of Metalsmithing – aka silversmithing, jewelry making..

In this immersive class, you’ll embark on a creative journey through the art of cutting and shaping metal and setting a cabochon stone. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class is designed to spark your curiosity and hone your skills.

You will learn the skills of sawing, soldering, texturing and finishing. Under the guidance of a skilled instructor, you’ll learn how to transform raw metal into stunning, wearable pieces of art.

Throughout the class, you’ll not only gain hands-on experience with various tools but also develop an understanding of the properties and possibilities of different metals and design.

So, roll up your sleeves and let the creative sparks fly as you delve into the ancient and ever-evolving craft of metalsmithing. By the end of this session, you’ll not only have a tangible creation to take home but also a newfound appreciation for the artistry and skill involved in working with metal.

DATES:  Wednesdays, 4/9 – 5/7/25, 6-9pm

TUITION: $250 (includes instruction and use of tools and equipment during class time)

MATERIALS KIT: Materials cost varies and depends on projects made, and is payable in class. Students can expect to pay between $20-60 on materials, depending on projects. Silver will be weighed and priced at current spot price.

Cancellations, Refunds, Missed Classes, and Pro-Rating

1. Cancellation by Salt City Smithery: If a class must be cancelled by Salt City Smithery, all registered students will be notified and a full refund will be issued to students.
2. Cancellation by Student: Salt City Smithery weekly/daily classes: If you are unable to attend a class that you have already paid for, please notify Salt City Smithery at least 72 HOURS prior to the start date of the class. Once notification is given in a timely manner, a full refund, minus $15 cancellation fee, will be given. Refunds will not be given for cancellations when notification is given less than 72 hours prior to start date of class.

Waiver of Liability

Attendees are required to sign a waiver of liability at least once before registering for an open studio.
