In this 2 day course you will learn how to set a cabochon gem stone using wire weaving methods. Wire weaving is slightly different than just standard wire wrapping. We will be using thicker base wire for the frame and a fine wire is woven in between them to create beautiful and intricate patterns that really make your piece stand out!
We will cover a lot of information including what kind of wire you might want to use for your projects, different tools to help you as you progress, different types of weaves to use in your work, shaping the frame for the stone, setting and locking the stone in, making the bail, adding patinas, sealing and cleaning up/ avoiding tool marks in our work. All the things you would need to start your own wire weaving journey! Hope you can join the fun!
Some cabs will be provided for you to pick from but feel free to bring any you might have on hand and want to set. I would recommend any round or oval cabs to start with roughly the size of a quarter.
