In this course you will learn how to set a CABOCHON gem stone using wire weaving methods. Wire weaving is slightly different then just standard wire wrapping. We will be using thick base wire for the frame and a fine wire is woven in between them to create beautiful and intricate patterns that really make your wire work stand out!
We will cover a lot of information including what kind of wire you might want to use for your projects, tools, different types of weaves, shaping the frame for the stone, making the bail, avoiding tool marks in our work. All the things you would need to start your own wire weaving journey!
Some cabs (flat backed stones) will be provided for you to pick from but feel free to bring any you might have on hand and want to set. I would recommend any round or oval cabs to start with, roughly the size of a quarter.
