Metalsmithing 2 – 4-Day Intensive
Ready to level up your bench skills? Metalsmithing 2 is designed for students who are comfortable with basic sawing and soldering and are ready to take on more complex fabrication and stone setting techniques.
This four-day intensive is packed with hands-on experience and thoughtful discussion around both technique and design. Students will explore:
-
Prong setting for unusually shaped stones
-
Creative and functional bail design ideas
-
More complex, multi-step soldering operations
-
Designing with multiple layers and dimension
-
Riveting as both a structural and decorative element
-
Expanded options for texturing, polishing, and finishing
We’ll also spend time discussing design considerations—how to plan a piece, problem-solve at the bench, and make intentional choices that elevate your work.
By the end of this intensive, you’ll have a stronger technical foundation, greater control over more advanced processes, and the confidence to execute more ambitious, layered designs. Perfect for students ready to push beyond the basics and expand their creative vocabulary at the bench.
