In this hands-on class, students will explore the creative possibilities of fold-forming, a technique that uses folding, forging, and unfolding metal to create dynamic forms and textures. We will begin by covering the essential tools and materials needed for successful fold-forming.
Students will learn and practice multiple fold styles, creating sample pieces while discovering how metal can be shaped in new and unexpected ways. Throughout the class, helpful tips and tricks will be shared to improve control, efficiency, and overall results.
The course will also include discussion on how fold-formed elements can be incorporated into finished designs, making this class ideal for artists interested in expanding their technical skills and design vocabulary.
