Imaginative Captures with Andy Cooperman, 3/17/27 – 3/21/27

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Imaginative Captures evolved from desperation: I was breaking stones while setting them. If I wanted to use gemstones in my work I had to find another way. What began as a work-around became a way of working and, eventually, a mindset. This is Capturing.

Imaginative Captures is designed to help you think outside the prong and bezel, to liberate the problem solver within and break down some of the rigid walls that exist between ideas, process and materials. With a long table of samples as reference and inspiration, we’ll explore new, elegant, more seamless ways to incorporate stones, enamels, little rusty treasures or anything in our work. Along the way we’ll get up close and personal with the flex shaft, soldering, cold connections and other tips and tricks.

Imaginative Captures may be just the creative shot in the arm that you’ve been craving. It can help you gain a fresh perspective on what you are making and how you are making it. Come join us!

Participants must have basic jewelry skills and experience with the rolling mill, torches, hammers, the flex shaft, etc. Required skills include drilling, sawing, filing, rivetting and basic bezel setting. Those who enroll must be able to solder unattended.
