CLASS DESCRIPTION:
In this two-day workshop, participants will learn the essential skills needed to build a small-scale forge and create hand-forged wearable art. This hands-on class introduces both the technical and creative aspects of metalsmithing, guiding students from tool construction to finished piece while working with a variety of metals.
Topics Covered:
- How to build a small forge designed for working with metal
- Fundamentals of forging techniques for shaping metal
- Hot and cold forging methods
- Understanding how metals such as copper, silver, bronze, and steel respond to heat and hammering
- Designing and creating a hand-forged wearable art piece
