Aude Bermond Hamlet’s journey into jewelry making began long before her first silversmithing class, rooted in a lifelong desire to create stylish, wearable art. While in college, she designed a collection of neon plastic earrings (it was the 80’s) that was featured and sold in a boutique.

In 2015, she discovered metal clay through an introductory course taught by Stephanie Chavez and was immediately captivated by the medium. This sparked a period of intensive skill development, leading to her Prometheus Clay certification in 2016 and a PMC certification in 2017. She found herself particularly drawn to bronze clay, inspired by its ancient appearance and the potential for combining different colored metals.

Recognizing the need to integrate traditional metalsmithing techniques into her work, Aude took her first class with Amy Schmidt in 2016. This opened a new door and she immersed herself in this new medium through advanced training in Utah and out of state. Over the years, she gradually built her own studio where she continues to experiment with various metals to create unique designs.

Since 2022, Aude has served as the silversmithing instructor for Salt Lake City Community Education. Based at West High, she expanded the curriculum to include an intermediate class designed for returning students eager to advance their skills. She loves sharing her skills in a classroom setting, where every class offers a new learning experience and an opportunity to share her passion with others.
