This is a series of simple beginner projects to let you dip your fingers into silversmithing to see what it’s all about. In the process, you will learn how to saw, use a drill press and solder with a butane torch. Take one or all classes and come home from each with a completed piece.

Skill Level: No experience silversmithing

SUPPLY FEE: $15 per class

DATES: February 18, 25 and March 4, 11, 18 from 1pm – 4pm MST

SERIES OF CLASSES:

#1 – SIMPLE BAND RING WITH STONE February 18

You will make a simple band ring from rectangle wire and a premade bezel and set it with a stone. You can also use stamps to stamp a message on the band.

#2 – SIMPLE SAWED PENDANT February 25

You will use a jewelers saw to cut a shape from sheet and use a butane torch to solder a jump ring to hang it from a chain. You can add a pre-made bezel and stone to the project for additional cost. Some metal texturing methods will be demonstrated

#3 – SIMPLE METAL CUFF March 4

You will use 8 gauge half-round wire to forge a cuff. Stamps will be provided and stamping demonstrated to decorate bracelet

#4 – SIMPLE BANGLE BRACELETS March 11

You will make 3 simple bangle bracelets from wire and solder them with a butane torch.

#5 – SIMPLE EARRINGS March 18

You will use a disc cutter to cut circles and form them with a dappling block after decorating them with stamps. You will create your own earwires and use a butane torch to solder jump ring connections to attach earwires.
